I really love thses flowers and how they look floating on the water in all those green pads.

Really nice DOF!
Tried myself a few weeks ago but I definitely need a longer lens (+ a sturdy tripod). ![]() |

A very beautiful capture of the "White Rose of the Water Spirit" as it is called in Swedish.
I don't know if this mythological figure is known in the English speaking world. It's a young, nude, male fiddler who sits on a stone in the middle of the stream playing his fiddle with a wonderful tune. Any virgin coming close enough will hear the music and immediatelly fall in love with him, and hence they are lured into the water where they will drown and never be heard of again. Of course it's also dangerous to try to pick his roses. I guess the myth saved quite some young lives in older days when only few knew how to swim. Kjell |

Great story Kjell!
I used my 28-70mm lens for the shot and dialed in about f/16 for DOF. They are hard to get a good shot of since they are so white and everything else is very dark that it really pushes the limits of DR in digital. Tom |

Love the picture, Tom- and Kjell, that story was wonderful. White flowers aren't easy any time, and yours is wonderful.

This flower was conveniently growing about a foot from the dock I was standing on, but it was hand held. Tripod was in the car, but the removable base for the camera was on my video camera so I went with plan "B".
