the longest time spend in the story is just waiting till the programs have done their part. And that is just the result that I'm doing this on a 4 year old laptop. So in total I may have spend around 1 hour to get everything started. thanks Ronny |

the way helicon focus works if that you get a bunch of pictures of the same object taken from the same spot, but with different parts of the object in focus. indoor I just put the camera on a tripod, set it to manual focus and take a bunch of pictures while slowly bringing the object in -> en out of focus. then on the pc open helicon focus, click on the tab Parameters, then the menu File, clear source list menu File, Add new Items and select all the images you want to combine. (I've tried it with dng's and jpg's and both work) click the Run button on the right side of the screen, and let it do it's work. when it's finished you can save the resulting image. 20 dng's take about 2-3 hours on a centrino 1.7 1GB ram, 15 minutes on a intel core dua cpu [email protected] with 4GB ram (pc at work), or 4 minutes on one of the servers at work. When the object isn't at the same location in some of the images I normally crop the images so it's at the same spot. Otherwise you can get strange shadows. for those who wan't to try it http://www.heliconsoft.com/downloads.html it's free for a month but beware you are going to want to use it longer ![]() |

Thanks, Ronny. It looks like a lot of fun and that image really looks good. However I think one of the 20 you took would have looked pretty good anyway. You can't get a finished product like that from bad pictures!

Awesome result Ronny, but 5 hours!!! You have too much spare time...LOL
I think the only bit I don't like on the shot is the white bits at the top. Other than that, I would hang it on the wall. Dal |

Ronny, great shot and I love the soft glow around the flower. I am not as wild about the "feathers" as they look artificial to my eye, but I assume both effects come from the fractalius plug in so it is probably a package deal.
