Hello Roy,
it looks like afirecrest but yours has a more red coloredstripe instead of orange! But it is sure family from it when it is not a firecrest :-) regards Walter |

Hi Roy,
Very nice capture!!! I'd say it's a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. I was chasing these around during the spring migration, and couldn't get a good shot of one. A number of people would tell me where they spotted one, and I'd run off to where they pointed me to, but no luck. . . Like the Cubs fans (and it looks like the Bears too!), I'll have to "wait until next year" :-) Scott |

Neat (really nice)picture - it matches the picture in my guide of a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet (not that I would have known where to look without Scott's ID first).
How do people judge size so well? You said 3-4" and my guide says 4". I'm lucky if I can tell "large", "medium" or "small." |
