It's been a while since I've posted, but I have been out taking wildflower pictures. I know wildflowers arenot everyones cup of tea, but I thought I would post this one of the very beautiful Bitterroots. We can thank Lewis and Clark for discovering these pretty flowers as they made there way toward the Pacific coast.
This was taken with my DL and the 18-55mm kit lens. The kit lens gets in reasonably close, although itis not as sharp as my M50 macro, but it doespretty good. I used adiffuser on this as they were in a bright midday Sun. It was shot as a jpeg, using the bright color setting. I've grown to likethis for shooting flowers. I set my contrast and saturation to -1 whenI do this- Bruce ![]() |

I agree - very nice picture of a pretty flower. The kit lens really does pretty well for close-ups of flowers. What/how were you using for a diffuser? I do so much shooting at noon and am always interested in improving the light. This is nice.

Here's a link to the article that got me headed down the right track on this. Their pictures kind oftell it all. They are very lightweight and fold up nice. These are also available in places like B&H or Adorama
http://www.naturephotographers.net/a.../je1002-1.html One thing I will say is you need to make sure all of yourimage (including the background)is within the diffused area or you will have blow-outs like when you shoot in broken shade. I find the 12" diffuser works well for individual or small flower groups, but if you want to shoot a clump of Lupine, it willnot be big enough- Bruce |
