Brrrr its minus 10 degrees, Fog & Ice (Elk)
Went to the Camera Wagon about 1 hour before daylight and it was fairly NIPPY out. Turned on the camera wagon and the heater on high and went back inside and had another cup of hot coffee. When I got to a ridge above the lake I saw very thick fog, I pulled over had a sip of coffee turned around and look in the back to find my insulated overalls and boots. Thought about it then looked back at my cup of hot coffee then at the temperature (-10) and decided that today is a "STAY IN THE CAMERA WAGON" kind of day. Normally I just don't pay attention to the weather but today was a Roger lazy day I guess. On the last ridge before the lake I saw this tree and not much fog here. ![]() Then I went down to the edge of the lake ![]() I was having a problem finding anything the fog was so thick so I went and climbed up on a ridge to wait and see if a Bull Elk I have been watching would show up on the South slope of the ridge. In between waves of thick fog I found him laying down. He looked miserable when I got him in my spotting scope so I waited until the fog cleared a little again and tried to get a few photos. You can see him laying down on the ridge. ![]() With a close up ![]() I am sure he was wondering ?? Where Is The Warm Sun?? He looked so miserable I turned my heater up 1 notch. ![]() Doesn't look like any sun today so back to the dark timber I go. ![]() ![]() After he left I decided I would take his lead and go back home and sit by the heater. F or C? Cold enough with any scale. Didn't affect the pictures though, as we have been spoilt with before.

Nice images, Roger. I really like the second one. Looks so quiet.
Dawg - Are you hinting that it's warm in Alabama right now?:-) Every post I see you're asking if it's cold. I'll trade you places just for one day. But, it's got to be this week. They are finally replacing our boiler at work and we can get rid of the space heaters we've been using since before Thanksgiving. Started at 57ºF and made it to 65ºF by 10 a.m. That's indoor temperature. Tomorrow we're all bringing our "scrooge" gloves. |
