Sharp indeed. And great composition. Where were you that you got a nice variety?
How would you rate this lens at the wide end? Your 3 posts show it's capability at medium to telephoto. This seems to be a superb travel lens, where you don't want to be lugging around an arsenal of lenses and don't want to be changing lenses in the field. Jim |

I try & keep the aperture to above f8 which under some lighting conditions is difficult. I used Tav mode to set the desired shutter speed & aperture modifying if the ISO went too high (like to keep it below 400 but 500 seems OK). I'm now trying out Av mode using the front wheel to adjust the ISO with the aperture set as high as I can manage under whatever lighting conditions prevail & it seems to work better. All images were shot in RAW+ using maximum sharpness setting, converted with PPL v3 on manual & post processed with PS CS3. |

The lens works well in the close range - nice captures. TheButerfly Bush is well named - we have several in our yard -- they love them.

It would be interesting to compare the Pentax 18-250mm against the Tamron 18-250mm. These photos look really great. Thanks for posting them.

I would have bought the Pentax purely because it looks better but was not prepared to pay UKĀ£100 more for the privalige. Incidentially, one of the reviews that I read indicated that vignetting & CA were worse on the Pentax that on the Tamron (Canon mount). Perhaps that's the difference between Pentax x1.5 & Canon x1.6 - I'm assuming that the Canon uses less of the image area resulting in less vignetting. |

All nice shots. #1 gets lost in the background, but the rest really stand out and show the quality of the equipment and the skills of the photographer.
