Green Heron, I have been hunting one of these for a long time. There small and skitish. He was sitting in a spot normally partolled by a humongous Alligator, but it was cold last night so gators are all buried in the mud.

wow, you should have been here last spring when i followed and posted a clutch of 4 growing up right out my back door. i know there were at least 2 different nests that produced 8 chicks.. hopefully they'll be back soon.

Nice shot! You sure got close. I've been working on getting closer to the Black Crowned Heron's around here, but they usually take off before I get as close as you did. --John
