These are milkweed seeds which are wind-borne on silken parachutes. The seeds are held in pods which burst (or dehisce) and are released to the wind, as is happening here. K100D and Promaster 100mm macro. Comments welcome.

Neat picture! They almost look delicate. There's some thing about these types of things - I'm fascinated with dandelions of all types, too.

Hi penolta,

Well I guess you nailed that shot -- How you got all the silk in focus, captured the highlights, and the bokeh is just about perfect. . .

Definitely very nice!

Perfect composition and focus, I love it!

The strands of the milkweed seeds with the sunlight dancing off them really helps make the picture rather than ruin it like direct sunlight can do. Very nice.

That's a real cool shot..there is such a new world with macro.Thankyou for the new word (dehisce).

Superb !. Good capture.

I like it a lot as it is, the evening sun (?) gives a harsh light that in this case makes the picture. A good example of how you get the best pictures by breaking the rules (All I have to read about photography says: avoid strong sunlight since it gives too much contrast)

But if I were you I would have pinced off that yellow leaf in the left foreground. Maybe you left it there on purpose, but I think the picture had been even better without it.
