tom,
this is the M42 and it is very sharp wide open. as is the vivitar 200/3.5 kjell, this was of precious on her first voyage out of the crate. here's a little about her. this really needs an update. http://www.texasbostons.com/Mprecious.html roy |

Thanks for the comparison shots Roy, it does look like a sharp lens. I am interested in the last shot (Precious). You mentioned that there was no PP except for resizing. Before reading that far down I had guessed you had done something to create the blur around the subject (with the ground fairly focused surrounding the dog but quickly blurring out further away). Does this lens have a very spherical focusing field or is something else at work here? Whatever the cause, it is kind of neat how it worked and I imagine it wouldhave been a useful attribute in the hands of a good photographer in the days of film and no photoshop.
Thanks, Tim |

But your work has been handsomely rewarded as shown. Maybe you can provide us with a little tutorial as to how to take that apart, clean and reassemble. Great work. I can never manage it Daniel, Toronto |

Good job cleaning up the lens Roy. That's the nice thing about Pentax's 300's - they all seem to be sharp and contrasty wide open. Nice pooch you have there...cheers.....Don

I have a Vivitar 300 f/4 that I've yet to shoot with. It has the TX mount on it. May do it tomorrow. Yes let's see a tutorial on disassembly. I for one would like that. They don't all come apart the same way. Similar but not the same.
PS...Peanut lens photos tomorrow. Dawg |
