Very hard to get a small bird in flight but this was a lucky day.

That cardinal was moving out! You need some serious shutter speed for that one!.
The others are looking really good!! Amazing what a little sunlight will do! Dennis |

At 1/350s and the extreme of your zoom, what you have got is more than a great shot. I always say when you target for BIF (over 1/2000s) , you have no time to switch back to stationary shot and vice versa. A BIF pict for either cardinal or chickadee or sparrow or blue jay is something that I am working on. But in this weather.....Hm Daniel |

Got some slower sparrow shot only. Apparently bird migration back to TO has not started yet.
![]() It looks different as I shoot jpg and I had my pro1 CP on. Yery odd color rendition. Daniel |

Little birdy action shots, nicely done, sirs.
Danielchtong, I really like the interaction between the sparrows. Sometimes, you just need to get lucky... |

Some really nice flight shots by all concerned. I've gotten a few of them over time with the little guys, but you really have to be lucky.
About the best I've gotten with a relatively small bird was this blue jay taking off on a gray morning back in December. Taken with the Phoenix 100-400 at 1/4000 @ f6.7, ISO 1600. ![]() |

That's a pretty good shot, Trojansoc. Like you said, for most of us we need to get lucky to capture a small bird in flight (sBID?) They move so quickly...
Gumnut, I was about 30 ft away from my shot, and also at way too fast of a shutter for fill flash to be a possibility. |
