I know I should have been working but it was a gloriously sunny December day and so I snuck out to take a photo or two. As usual I pointed the camera westward around sunset and these are some of the results:
![]() ![]() ![]() And just for a change, that black thing in the last pic isn't dust but a Chinook(?) helicopter. I heard a noise and pointed, clicked. and got it. The above were all taken from somewhere called Bald Hill, which is right on the edge of the Chilterns. The view across the vale looked like this ![]() That's Didcot power station doing its best impersonation of Mordor. |

Lovely sunset, especially the first shot with the silhouetted trees.

Proves again that it's not the camera, but what you point it at! Good capture, it's understandable why you sneaked out of the job.
The last one has it's value though. As technically perfect as it is (exposure, composition, depth all being spot on) it would be a good illustration to go with an article about climate change. Kjell |

Beautiful sunset, Keith! Just curious about that last shot... is that line in the foreground a hedgerow or acolumnof orcs marching to Gondor??? That is eery to say the least!

Neat pictures, including the last one. My favorite is the Chinook and I agree with the everyone else - the last one is eerie.

I must admit that I was quite pleased with that last shot. The sun was behind the clouds and the mist was forming (Ron - that line was neither hedgerow nor orcs, it was just mist). It did need a little PP as the original was very flat.
The power station looks worse than it really is; what you can see is steam coming from the cooling towers as you might be able to tell from this: ![]() (It's actually a lot clearer in the 1024x768 photo) |
