Here is the image I shot for the poster, the foreground was converted to black and white and the background light spot was stretched vertically for more dramatic effect. (original shot in RAW with a DS and 24-135mm Sigma).

I saved the poster to be able to see it in PSE (I still use the default black background, I like it!).

Thanks Kjell, I looked at some proposals for the last festival poster (2003 in Gander) and decided I could use an idea I saw, but take it a little farther. I like the result and I am glad to read that it is effective.
