I think part of the problem is that the snow on the leaves, especially when photographed at a slight distance, makes it look like the picture is oversharpened, when it probably isn't. Gives it a strange look. Theother one is better. And the last one you posted is really wonderful.

Harriet, I think you hit it on the head. It looks like it was oversharpened, when it wasn't at all. Oh well, I will have to let it live in my memory! Ron, Phil and Ishino, thank you for your kind words. These were taken at a national reserve called Wutach Schluct and it was far more beautiful than my photos portrayed. Very nice pictures. The area looks beautiful. I am hoping to visit there next year. My great-great grandfather emigrated from Waldkirk around 1840.
