From the Beaty historic district here in Athens Alabama. More to come later. These two were built around 1826.

Great old homes, Dawg. There must be lots of
old plantation homes still in existance there. I would never tire of taking pictures of them for sure. I just now posted a shot of an old Railroad depot near here.... Jim |

Ok, Robar, tnx for the comment. I was stationed at Agusta for awhile many
years ago and I remember some of the fine old houses there. Anyway, I enjoy taking photos of old houses, barns and court houses. Covered bridges too. We have some in our area...... Jim |

Actually there are 30 or so inside the city limits of Athens and many many more in Limestone county. The union army did rape and pillage in this small town but didn't destroy the houses. This area of North Alabama and Southern Tennessee was spared a lot of the scorched earth policy as the union didn't think it was industrial enough or heavily populated enough to be of much use capturing it. You can go here to see some Black and white photos of some of the houses taken back in the 1920's to 1930's.

Jim be careful. around here shooting old houses or old barns can get you shot...The people that make and sell Crystal Meth drugs use them sometimes to make their poison and are very paranoid about folks shooting pictures of the place their lab is located...Just be careful!
