Taken 'on the fly', I was quite surprised how well this came out. I just happend to be walking along the river bank testing out the Tav mode on my newly aquired K10, when I heard the flap of wings & caught sight of this swan in flight. There wasn't any time to re-dress setting or switch off 'anti-shake' & neither was the field of view that uncluttered but I'm quite pleased with the result, even if I say so myself.

Camera settings: 1/125S @ f8, ISO 100, FL: 345mm using a Tamron 18-250mm lens
Photoshop processed: resized to 1280x857, Levels adjusted, touch of Shadows/Highlights, USM 20%

@Ken T
Wow - what an unusual shot! Congratz! And keep taking and posting these "unusual" photos - I never saw this before! :cool:

Here's my try to squeeze a bit of detail out of your lovely bird, wasn't easy with that rather small sample... have fun:

@Peacekeeper
Admit it - you were cheating in some way for that shot! I don't want details, just say: "yes - I cheated, it's not a real bird" and I am satisfied. Pretty please? ;)

Sorry, I did n't cheat. What I wil do is take some more. Some of the guys here feed them and you end up with 50 or so of them circle aout 10 feet above you.

That bird shot was one of about 30 shots I took of this bird. Started at about 15 metres with a 80-200 FA* f/2.8 and just kept takng pictures and creeping forward between shots unti I as about 2-3 metres away.
