Some nice shots there snooked, I have been surprised at the results from that lens, it really belies the superzoom reputation for poor quality.
Tim PS: The third shot exif shows 300mm, is the lens reporting incorrectly to the camera? |

My error, I used two lenses while there. The third was taken with Tamron 70-300mm macro. With the quality I got with the 18-250mm I will not be as quick to change lenses. The main advantage with the Tamron beside an extra 50mm is a 1/2 Macro capability.

tim's ?? was one of mine also. i'd be interested in wide open high/low shots. i also agree with tim about the shots i've seen from this lens are pretty remarkable. i'd not expected it..

Very nice picture - the lens is doing quite well for you.

I opted for the Tamron 18-250mm from which the Pentax is 'cloned'. A very versatile lens but wide to near wide open shots require post processing with lens correction to overcome vignetting which occurs across the whole focal length range.
Don't be put off, use RAW and post process in ACR/Lightroom & you'd hardly know there was a problem. Here's a shot that I'm quite please with using the Tamron 18-250mm - Shutter 1/500S, f-16, ISO 200, 375mm (in 35mm terms) taken with the *istDS ![]() And another ![]() |
