i finally made a decision on a wide angle lens
i got the Pentax 10-17mm fisheye, and bought here rather than order from overseas i took it out for a run the last few weekend and it is a very interesting lens it makes you look at subjects in a whole new way i find it really useful for flowers here are a few i am having a few problems yet, such as coping with contrast (and yes, its Autumn here too lol ) more fisheye photos are here, feel free to take a look any hints are welcome ![]() http://www.johndolphin.net/photos/ca....php?cat_id=61 |

Very nice perspectives! This lens can focus at very close distances which gives is macro capability. Your pictures definitely demonstrate it! I especially like images no. 2 and 3.

Very cool! In some ways I'd like to get a fisheye, just for the extreme effects you can get with it. Have fun playing with it, and I like your flowers!

thanks guys for taking a look and taking the time to comment
![]() it is much appreciated Daniel- i am enjoying looking for the interesting angle the lens affordes, keeping my feet or shadows out of the shot is difficult lol Jay- the close focusing was one of the things that sold me on the lens, so close i often touched the flowers, i know have to work out f stops and depth of field, the old fashioned depth of field scale on the lens would be handy ![]() Rodney- the lens was what i would consider expensive at nearly $800 au ( i did manage a 10% discount) it is cheaper to buy it overseas, but the guy in the shop where i tested it was really helpful and i may go back there again, so i bought it locally mtngal- i am having to much fun with it lol to many photos, not all work though ![]() i need a bigger hard drive i dont know if you recognised it, but the red flower is from California, i dont recall what it is, sorry |

Wonderful images!!! The forth image, the red flower, I believe is a bottle brush. The red flower is shaped like a bottle brush that you use to clean/wash out a bottle.
Having the lens also, it does wonderful things with the background, which makes it appear well in the distance, even though it just might be a short ways away. I think you will like using the lens... |
