I agree - I like this series, you've done a good job with the backlighting. You've gotten so good with birds.

Hi Daniel,
Nice series! Just to ease your mind, flash probably wouldn't have helped that much -- you would have gone crazy waiting for it to charge in between shots, even at ISO 800, it probably would have been firing close to max, and that means at least 4 secs to charge. I think that you did about everything that you could have considering the lighting angles and apparent intensity. The scenes are DR nightmares with all the very bright reflections and shadows. Just getting some detail in the shadows would have been a major accomplishment, and you did much better than that. My favorite is #2 because of the wing position. Kinda like the GBH was conducting an orchestra. Scott |

Daniel, Great stuff! They turned out wonderfully in spite of the back light.

you did get a good exposure on the heron
well done on getting the suquence too i have tried fill flash just to lighten the shadows without becoming the main source of light it can take some experimenting depending on how far you are away what i have found though is that the flash can add a catch light to the eye even if it does nothing else (but that can always be added later on the computer ![]() |
