This couple of in flight pictures have somewhat more appealing bokeh than earlier. I have no control whatsoever. Was it because of Exposure? Background? Iso?

these are real nice daniel but the white balance seems off. is it because of the reflected light from the snow and ice??

Thanks for taking time to comment. Still have no clue as to what went wrong re the white balance. It must be the impact of snow/ice. I never shoot raw as I have a tiny buffer anyway. dawg I know. But I do not know the formula so to avoid the bad ones and ensure the good one. Daniel |

Do what I do Daniel...shoot hundreds and select one or two....I haven't a clue either and surprise myself when a setting I'm sure is a bust turns out to be the one that works....Now If I could remember the settings at certain light levels and could know for sure the photo is in that light range I'd have it made.....Sigh...I'll never master this....But it sure is fun trying!! The possible permutations of the combination of light level, aperture, shutter speed, ISO is staggering to figure...Then add in the differences between each lens...Now your starting to get a picture of it all...Not to mention that from moment to moment the light level will change and with animals the focus range will change... And with every slight move of the camera while panning the light level, focus range, and DOF is changing. It is mind numbing to try to get this all figured out and become capable of repetitively shooting a consistantly well exposed well focused smooth Bokeh photo...So I shoot hundreds and gleen the few good ones. The percentages are in my favor that way!

Daniel, great shots again. I think I will have to resort to my 200mm f4 M-series lens and learn to focus and anticipate. Your shots have such great detail.

Thanks guys for the undeserved compliments.
Here are some of the best bokeh I got from the lens. So it is like hit and miss. Well. More miss than hit then. ![]() ![]() |

These are lovely! I'm like you - most of the time when things go right I can't tell you exactly what it was that I did right. I do know that aperture and relative distance play a big part, though its not the whole story. If photography were easy, there would be few professional photographers - why pay for something you can do easily?

Maybe I missed it, but what lens is this?
