Very nice turkey! I once lived in a small valley that started off with 6 turkeys - 3 white domestic ones and 3 wild ones that wandered into the area. For a couple of years there were offspring that were mottled, but soon they were all brown, wild turkeys.

the metallic colours in the feathers is fantastic

That one is pretty safe, it lives on Fort Ord down by Monterey and his big worry is deciding which person in the housing area to have feed him bird seed each day.

Nice capture, Tom... I could be mistaken...but I think you should have said "HER biggest worry" She doesn't have a beard so I'm pretty sure that it's a hen. Still...that's one tame bird if you got that close even with a good lens! They really are interesting birds...no wonder ole Ben Franklin suggested it as our national bird.

That brush sticking out of his breast area is the beard, so it is a he not a she. The photos were taken with a 28-80mm lens to show how tame they are.
