Having fun with TRAIN fans
In the last couple of years our railroad (The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad) has been re-building our track an road bed. Some of the avid fans have voiced a concern that after the work is done the train will be going to fast for them to get to their favorite spots to get photos. Our train goes about 8-10 miles an hour and after the work is done it will probably average 10 to 12 mph. The advantage of re-doing the track is to cut back on maintenance issues. A bad roadbed and track causes a lot of additional wear and tear on the engines. I figured I would have some fun so I built a animation and then speeded it up and posted it on one of the railroad discussion boards as after the work it done. I also posted one of the real speed on re-worked track. The animations are done with 30 plus photos using my K10D in burst mode and my BushHawk to hold the camera steady.
