My in-laws are here and we are traveling a bit. Just got back from a trip in and around the Salzburg and Munich area. Here are some faux panoramas. That is, they are all just cropped, not stitched. Had some great days and with the scenery as it was, all you had to do was point the camera in any direction and shoot. Almost guaranteed to get a good shot.
This first shot is taken from the "Eagle's Nest", Hitlers 50thbirthday present from Martin Borhmann. I wish I could tell you it was aneagle, but alas it was a mere black crow out lookingfor scraps of food at the restaurant. This next shot is taken on theMondsee. Its claimto international fame is the church in the town of Mondsee was used to film the wedding scene in Sound of Music. By the way, the water really is that blue! ![]() This next one is from a rest stop on Autobahn 8 between Munich and Salzburg. Not a bad backdrop to an evening meal! We went to Ludwig II's birthplace and got this shot off the back porch of the castle Hohen Schwangau. This is the typical shot of the Mirabelle Gardens, home of the Sound of Music's "Do Re Mi" scene. ![]() On the way home we decided to take a shortdetour from Innsbruck down into Italy, only 40 Ks away, through the Brenner pass. Big mistake. Half of Germany was on its way south and half of Italy was on its way north! So once in Italy we decided totake another,"quicker" route home. Big mistake #2!Back roads in the Alps are never as direct as they look on the map! But we ended up climbing to over 6000 feet and got a lot of really greatvista to enjoy and, of course, shoot. ![]() ![]() Finally,a shotfrom the lake region outsideSalzburg. ![]() Hope you enjoyed the trip! Wish you could be here with us, but I'd wait until the dollar strengthens against the Euro before coming! At the present exchange rate gas is about $9.00 a gallon. Glenn |

What wonderful shots - I can just feel the cool mountain air as I look at the expanse of mountains with the old architecture. Ah, to be there right now... How I envy you!
