Kjell, Dennis, Dave and Kman, thanks for the comments. It does get expensive in some places, but there are a few ways to cut costs. If any of you are interested try a web site called Interchalet. They have holiday houses all over Europe that have a built in kitchen so you can eat at least some of your meals in. The weekly cost is not bad.

Looks like you and the family had a great time. It's always nice to see photos of place where I have been (lived in Germany 1976-1979 & 1983-1988). My Mom came over twice (from MS, & she had never flown before), and she had a great time visiting. We did the same Bavaria/Italy/Paris/Belgium/Luxemberg/Holland trip. I put about 2,100 miles on my car during 1 trip. Of course back then, gas was $1.00 a gallon with the American Forces coupons. German equivilant price was about $4 a gallon!! Makes a huge difference in traveling.
