Each day when I go down to the shed to work on putting the cars away for the winter, one of the hen Grouse comes by and checks things out. I will be working moving things around inside and she will come walking by and look in the door to see what I am doing.
Today even though it was extremely overcast, I took my DS and got a few shots of her with the 80-200! ISO 800, jpg, 1/90 sec @ f/2.8, 200mm. ![]() |

It amazes me how you can even see her with her camouflage. Nice picture.

Thanks, I thought it came out pretty good considering it was shot wide open at 2.8.

Yes it is the FA* 80-200 f/2.8, a bit heavy, but it does a nice job. I was going to use the FA* 300 but it was so overcast, I needed the extra stops.

Very nice capture, Tom! Those markings are so interesting. That had to be a tough shot to get...aren't they pretty skiddish around people?
Thanks for sharing! Ron |

They are usually hard to get close to, but this one seems extremely interested in what I am doing and comes by to check me out. She comes pretty close, but still about 15 yards away and will fly away if I get too close.
