Hi All.
Not great shots, but after seeing Tom's (ennacac) birdhouse shot, I remembered that I had taken them, and thought I'd try processing them. They are of a homemade birdhouse that a House Wren and her two babies called home. I was at the wrong height to get much of the babies, and the mom was really quick. I had trouble focusing because it was getting dark fast. I was standing about 10 feet away waiting, but the mom wouldn't come back to the babies until I backed off another 5 feet. Then it was like I wasn't even there. They were taken with the K10, FA*300/4.5 and the F1.7x AFA using an AF540FGZ flash. "So where's mom already?. . . ![]() "I hear her -- mom . . .MOM. . .MOM!! ![]() "Now calm down kids, there's plenty for both of you. . ." ![]() . . . she fed them and took off before the flash could recharge. . . She did, however seem to give one of the babies everything but the soft inner body, pulled that back out, then gave the other one what remained. Pretty cool, I think. Scott |

Wow. Interesting series . All keepers with the 2nd one being an excellent one. You had 1 1/3 minus exp bias with flash? That is tricky and you were apparently testing it given such long distance of 750mm. You are one of the few have this combo. Unlike Canon/Nikon, such combo is just not even something you can buy off the shelf. It is cruel that the mom is doing the natural selection by only feeding the strongest and the other one is left to die. I saw that all the time ,just do not have the skill to take pict thereof. Well done Daniel |
