Just a quick unscientific benchmark tonight of the DA 18-55 on both my K10D and my K20D. I had the lens set to 55mm and set the focus distance to 0.82 feet. Subject was 7 feet away. The K10D gave an auto focus confirmation beep after 2.9 seconds. The K20D gave an auto focus confirmation beep after 2.1 seconds. Did this test 3 times all with exact results within +/-0.12 seconds for my reaction time. So far this confirms my initial impression that auto focus appeared to confirm quicker. Both cameras metered 1/8sec at f/5.6 on Av mode. Now I am anxious to see what it can do in daylight.

Thank you for doing a wonderful job of evaluating the focus speed between the two cameras!! Also, your in depth evaluation of the K20D and ISO settings, was an eye opener for me. I would have never thought that 1600 iso setting could give virutally noise free photos right out of the camera!!
Thanks again, and keep up the good work!!:| -thepusher |
