I don't recall seeing anyforum members from Kentucky (if you are out there lurking speak up, so I can pick your brain). I am just about recovered from a whirlwind tour of eastern KY last weekend that concluded with a 17 hour straight through drive back to Florida. The purpose of our trip was to look at some property we had made an offer on sight unseen. We did not get the property but we did get a first hand look at many areas of Eastern KY and came home even more determined to buy some land in the mountains for retirement.
Of course the K100d came along for the trip.. . |

I am pretty sure this is a hibiscus. I had always believed them to be tropical flowers and was suprised to find them growing outdoors in KY. It appears there are some pretty hardy varieties.

We passed this church and covered bridge on the way to look at some property and stopped on the way back to take some photos. There was a constant stream of people driving up to photograph it, apparently it is somewhat famous and has been on many magazine covers. I got this shot with the kit lens at a pretty wide angle. I think I would try backing up further if I got a chance to try again.

This one is from Carter Caves state park, a really beautiful state park if you are ever in that area. This was also taken with the kit lens; the photo really did not capture how much mist was hanging over the stream.

This last one was also in Carter Caves state park, also with the kit lens. You know, looking over these shots I realize that every single one was taken with the kit lens. I am using that lens more now than I ever have and it continues to impress me with the quality for the price.
Thanks for looking, Tim |

Great shots!!! I really like the last bridge Picture the best. But, I also like the way that you framed the church thru the covered bridge. Phil |

That sunrise is beautiful and you did so well to capture it as you did with the rest of your shots.
