Not had the chance to get out with the Camera for a while but it was a lovely morning on Sunday so had a wander down to the Quayside to get some fresh air and took the opportunity to try out the new Sigma lens.
Only got about an hour of decent light before the clouds moved in... (1) Burnt out Boat, left high and dry: ![]() (2) They use this to get Grain out of the Ships, reminds me of something from War of the Worlds: ![]() (3) Another burnt out Boat: ![]() (4) Grain Silos, these are no longer used and are awaiting removal: ![]() (5) St. Margarets Church Graveyard: ![]() (6) Another of the Graveyard, I liked the idea of the Spring Daffodils against the Graves; Life and Death: ![]() The Lens was great, although it seems to lose focus quite strongly at the extremes of the picture when at it's widest point, although I guess that's just a "feature" of very Wide Lenses. Nice shots! Why do you have so many burned boats where you live, is it a UK thing?

Thanks for the comments.
Not sure if it's a UK thing concerning Burnt out Boats but, unfortunately, where I live some of the less than desirable areas are located near the Quayside. Any boat left long enough becomes first a haven for drinking/drug taking and graffiti and then will eventually end up burnt out  |

I love the first one, it has a unknown story to it.
The last ones use of light is very well done. |

My favorite is also #1, and #2 works very well too. Nice use of black and white there. Three is an odd one. I was not reading the captions as I first scrolled through the shots and I spend a few moments trying to decide if that was a boat or a trench system receding into the hillside. I actually had about decided it was a trench when I noticed the caption. It is funny how perspective can play with your mind.

This is a wonderful series! I more or less agree with Ronny, except that I like the 4th one - the color and beer bottles appeal to my sense of humor for some reason. I can't tell you what it is about the third one I'm not crazy about, all I know is that for some reason I don't care for it (composition isn't my strong suit and I only go by like/don't like). I think the first one is probably the best as far as a classic type picture (sky is so neat looking and fits the shot so well, boat perfectly placed, lots of depth in the scene), but my favorite is the second one. Tells you I'll never be an art critic as I suspect the first one is the type of picture that would win prizes while the second one would be an honorable mention.

I really like the colors and composition of the last two. The silos also appeal to me....kinda brings a chuckle about. Love the angle those were taken at.
