#4...not sure how I got the star effect. I wasn't using a star filter but I like it none the less.

Thanks Roy! I always value your opinion! I used my old Promaster 6200 tripod but I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new one.

Here it is... I couldn't swing a carbon fiber so I thought I would give this one a try & the $ seemed right.;rd=1&rd=1

So hopefully, it won't be junk!

As far as the star effect, I wish I knew how it happened since out ofa hundred shots or so, that is the only time that it occurred.

#3 has a wonderful 3-D effect, like a giant sea anenome. Realy cool!

Never to many fireworks, I like No 1 best however they are all good.

Thanks guys! CC...yes, a sea anenome! I was thinking apufferfish. Rodney, I would have to agree. Fireworks are almost like 2 are the same.

Thanks again!

i like 3 too
it really does look 3d

i am guessing the star effect was caused by the aperture blades
but that just a guess

Cool pictures - until I read someone's suggestion that it looks like an anenome or a puffer fish, I was going to say a big dandilion. The only time I've gotten a star effect was when I was taking a fairly long exposure with some street lights in them. But I wouldn't think the light from a fireworks would be around long enough to get that effect - can't help you with how you did it.

Thanks for the comments, Gumnut & Harriet! As for as the stars, who knows...just another photo-oddity...just luck.

you'll like the 858 legs. i have a set and they are rock solid. they work well with my 500mm f4.5(7lbs+).. so i know they will support just about anything. it looks like amvona made them longer in this updated verion.

edit: looks like they are selling for a lot more too. i got mine for $33 delivered. guess it just means that they are a good deal. i did not get a head w/mine so that's some of the difference.
