The second one was a very successful experiment - I like it.
Just my opinion, but I'm not crazy about the first one. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to capture similar leaves - the different colors are fascinating. I just don'tcare forthe OOF foreground leaves. You could try using a smaller aperture to get a deeper DOF. I haven't been particularly successful even using that, though - perhaps you will be more successful than I've been. |

But with no AWB comparission hard to say something was better or worse.....
but as others have said results quite pleasing. And when you say manual you meant true manual or just WB..... If M mode how much did you have to experiment to get those two shots.... and what lens? You have the time M will always be better with digital immedite feedback.... and even haven't used it that much since first firmware upgrade to the K10D added the P mode AP/SH priority on one wheel and EV on the other.... VERY powerful near M combo with unless unless real intuitive (to M) expreimmentation. (most only film.... no immediate LCD feedback shooters really have) |

But this does bring up and interesting point I tried to a few weeks back but got no rersponsee...
Where you actually shooting subject or just interesting LIGHT shape? Now OBVIOUSLY there is a defined subject there but WHICH caught your eye first... the subject or light? Personally even when I occasionally get crap from people for shooting them (imagine that in a tourist town... after 14 years there are THOUSANDS of pics and vid of me somewhere out there) my response (and they rarely understand) I was shooting light not really subject. In fact I am probally making them as indisinguishable as possible to get the rest of the light right. And then again likely the VERY people shooting against sunset and wondering why the are just black silohettes with no flash.... again NO understanding of LIGHT. |
