In good light the Kit is a great lens.
A fish broke surface just as I shot, and disturbed the water. But it was still the most balanced picture - the light was changing fast - so I kept it.
Hey don't sweat it actually does a good job of drawing the eye in and then back out.... and it still end up as WOW.

Critique? Let's see - perfect lighting, great composition, well executed. Don't think there's anything else to say, other than I love it. I'm another kit lens fan - it's a nice lens, and an awesome value.
