7 weeks ago I asked about taking photos at the Cavern. The advice, that I completely ignored, was to get a fast prime lens. I would have bought one but having spent all the money in my piggy bank, and then some, I couldn't really afford it.
So I just took my Samsung 18-55mm and Sigma 75-300mm. The Quarrymen were in fact on another stage (not the one in the photo) and the light wasn't too bad. I started taking photos with the 18-55mm then I ogt brave and started using the Sigma. The following was taken at 260mm, F5.6 and a handheld 1/40sec. Thank you stabilisation!!! The subject is Mr Rod Davis who was effectively replaced by Paul McCartney. |

Not surprised the Quarrymen might still be around but wasn't the Cavern filled in and covered by an office building long ago?
YEAH SR is great, especially when you are pretty steady to begin with, I've even pulled of some at 400mm and about that slow elbow braced on a railing. Even elbow chest braced holding breath, maybe leaning on a post etc. Oh yeah and almost forgot.... nice shot.... he reminds me a little of George Carlin in appearance. ![]() |

Thank you very much for posting that picture of the plaque. I didn't know any of that - sounds like a place I might like to visit one day.
