Here are some shots, not great but at least I saw it.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some of the images came out with banding and extreme noise, could this be caused by low temperatures? Here is an example: |

Driver, that image is magnificent, what lens did you use? BTW when I say cold, it is -6C here (21F).

Thanks, Ira!
That was with my K10D and new Bigma. It is cropped some and saved for web. I really wish the clouds had held off for a while. |

We had clear skies but very low temperatures. An extra 200mm and 4MP really shows in that image. Well done.

Nice pictures! We arrived home to light snow (they had predicted rain showers, then clearning) and a solid overcast, so no chance.

Here's what we had in Southern Illinois at 16F. More of a glow than a "blackout"...interesting now the less. This was with my SIgma 170-500 at 500 F6.7 (I think) 2-3seconds. I tried to use a promaster 2x converter but it just zoomed in & out.

Nice detail. I should have set up more carefully, perhaps I would have gotten some sharper images.

Here's what was seen in Northern KY. DL with Sigma 70-300 APO DG at 289mm. Used a tripod..therefore, if there was no camera shake, there was definitely operator shake due to the cold temps:-)
