This is one of the century old cottonwoods along the Highline Canal. This is an old portage canal that runs through the Denver metro area. The photo was taken a few blocks from my house in Littleton. K10D/12-24 at 12mm. PP with ACDSee PRO 2.

A late welcome to the forum, Mike! And what a first post! I couldn't help just staring at it for a couple of minutes...it certainly has a way of drawing you in, especially with that range& depth!
Great capture! Ron |

Thanks for your kind comment Ron.
I just happend to be lurking and noticed the challenge. Since I had taken this just a few weeks ago, thought I would join and drop it in. I recently retired from Pentax and have been getting back into photography as a hobbly after several years absense. Mike |

Welcome, Mike! Your picture makes me want to walk down that path and see what's beyond the tree - definitely my kind of place. I'd love to see more of your pictures!

Yes, welcome to the forum, your entry is quite nice. Of course, after your introduction I have to ask what you did for Pentax before you retired.

Nice to have you with us - welcome. The tonality in thisimage reminds me of the type of exemplary B&W work done in film, which may reflect on your past experience. You didn't indicate what your position was with Pentax; whether or not it was in hands on photography -- did you ever teach or run workshops? At any rate, enjoy photography in your retirement as I and others do, and I hope you will continue to participate with us in the forums.

Thank you all for the kind welcome! To answer Tim's quesiton, I was a sales director for Pentax. The last few years I was managing the Sport Optics, Printer and Security divisions at various times. Most of my career was however in the camera diviison as a regional sales manager. It is a lot of fun to look at it as a hobby again after close to thirty years with Pentax and 40 years in the photo industry.
