Hi all,
Had a great time at Martin Mere, a large wetlands reserve in Lancashire, England. Ive been so many times in the past and have nearly always been dissapointed in the shots I have gotten, normally due to fast moving objects and low light, meaning my old camera just couldnt cope. This was my first visit with the Pentax tucked under my arm , and all I can say is WOW. The conditions were as normal, pretty poor light , but I was able to get some good shots. My Fiancee has a Canon 350D coupled with an 100-400 L IS lens and even she was impressed with the results. All shots were captured as RAW and have been cropped and some PP work done. Comments are more than welcome, together with any hints on how to improve. Regards Goth |

Nice shots. What lens/lenses were you using?

Hi ron
I was using the Sigma 70-300 APO DG. Ive found it to be a fairly versatile lens so far. Thanks for the comment Regards Goth |

Wow, really love the first and third shots... The macro isn't a bad shot (I really like the angle), but I would try a little smaller aperture for more DOF, I usually use at least f11-f16 for my macros.

Won't disagree with anything that's been said here - the first goose is very nicely done as is the third one. The macro could use a bigger DOF - macros are incredibly frustrating when it comes to that.

Thanks for the comments.
The first and third shots are quite pleasing, I am struggling with Macro shots , Im quite new to iut and its V hard to guage just how much DOF to give, versus shutter speed, iso etc. I know its al a bit ofa juggling cat and something has to take priority. I guess I will just keep on trying til I get better. Once again thanks for the help and comments, much apprecaited. |

I have very seldom gotten good macro shots, these are all very good images. Well done.
