It's a very good shot for a first attempt!
The only thing I would do to it is a little bit of unsharp maks to bring out the details, and a bit of curves or levels to introduce a bitmore contrast, but it's certainly not a bad photo! |

Hi,
With a full moon the illumination from the sun is square on so you get very little shadow, and consequently less contrast. with a waxing or waning moon the light is less direct, so more shadows occur and you get more contrast. Give it a try at half moon or threequarter moon you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps ... Jack. |

If you want really good moon shots, you are moving from camera lenses and into telescopes, anything longer than 3/400mm will be too unweildly to use as a regular lens as well, and/or cost a lot of money. You are better off buying a telescope for about £170 that has a T-Mount and get a Pentax to T-Mount adaptor. You just mount the camera to the telescope and away you go.
*edit* Here's a shot I took if you are interested, looking back at it now, I sharpened the moon too much... http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...jump_to=781231 |
