Very good John...See it is not that hard to hold the Bigma steady handheld. Most folks think it is too big and unwieldy for hand held but it really isn't. Have you tried it at 500mm with and without AS engaged? And don't forget it goes down to 50mm and all points in between. Actually does a decent job on flowers too!

Yup,,, I find myself using the entire range although most shots are at the long end. It's very convenient to zoom out for a different perspective on occasion. I also tried some BIF shots, and am finding it much easier to zoom out first, start tracking, then zoom in. I haven't tried with/without SR enabled, but I doubt that I could hold it steady at 1/125 without this feature.
