Here is a shot of the full moon I did tonight. This was taken with my Pentax K10D and Pentax 50-200 lens. I did this in full auto with the exposure compensation set to -2 stops. It was shot raw and processed in Adobe Lightroom. It was cropped. It is this kind of cropping that is the reason higher resolution is important. Not for more detail but for extreme cropping with having enough left of the image to do something with.

robert, i agree that resolution on the k10d makes a difference but here's a cropped shot from my DS from a month ago. shot HHed.. the lens also matters.

get a tele and aim it at the moon and experiment......

This is what i got using an old Tokina 400mm RMC lens which was handheld on k100d and is similar to Roberts which i prefer to the others but all are good efforts
