Thanks for all the comments.
Here in Florida, for the past 15 or 20 years anyway, they have this building code that requires any development site to build a retention pond with a capacity to hold runoff equal to the amount of ground that was paved over built over. This is suppose to help reduce possible flooding. These ponds are surrounded with chain link fencing to keep people out but, doesn't keep gators and other wild life from entering in other ways, like through a culvert. One standing rule here is, when it comes to a body of water... you can expect to find two things in it, fish and gators.
That even includes swimming pools from time to time.
