New/Rebuilt Caboose
The Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is the official museum support group for the C&TS, managing the museum and restoration functions of the railroad. In particular, the Friends has assumed the responsibility of preserving all of the railroad's historic assets that are not used in the regular tourist train operation, and interpreting the railroad to the public. This is one of many projects they have worked on this year. ![]() ![]() ![]() http://chamachoochoo.com/discussion/...se/caboose.htm TOTALLY WACKY roger |

Being a rail buff, I say "Bravo"! Great composition (definitely like the color version). Thanks for sharing! Jay

The black engine looked great in b&w or sepia, it removed the distracting greenery. The red caboose needs colour, it maintains its character through its colour.

The white rails are too bright though. Give them a few years and they will look more like I remember.

I prefer the color one, too, if it is not out of place in a series of monochromes. The shadowed end of the caboosein the monochromes (especially the b/w) loses too much contrast against the foliage - the color contrast is needed. Besides, cabooses are supposed to be red! The new paint on the side is too shiny, but unless you could tone it down a bit, there is nothing you can do about itexcept wait a few years for it to age! Is the color true? Unless it is my monitor, it looks too bright. Ican't recall ever seeingone in paint that bright - they always had that duller weathered look, but I would assume they were able to use an authentic color.
That railroad restoration looks like a fun project, and a historically significant one. Good of you to document it. If you ever get the opportunity on future car restorations, "before"as well as"after" pictures would be valuable for the documentation if noone else is doing it. |

Colour for sure, it's way to pretty not to show off those colours and a well taken shot, nice composition.
