Very sharp underwater. if there is anything other than pool wall in the shot, AWB does very well.

Looks like you (and Pentax) have a winner here in this one - hope it holds up. Pentax binoculars are among the best, too-- I wonder what the merger bodes for those. |

Very innovative series of pictures. You are very talented in focusing / portraying what you need to express. P&S has progressed so much these few years. Above water performance it matches the dslr of 3 yrs ago. I may not want it as I cannot figure it out how often I will be shooting underwater. There seems to be concern about noise. Well underwater, it is very quiet indeed. Just kidding. Daniel ![]() |

Thanks for all the nice comments! I really appreciate them.
LOL at daniel's line! Bit of a funny story here too. My sister is looking for a digicam. She asked me to help her out a bit. Asked her if she's looked at the Pentax A30... she said no because reviews say pentax cameras are noisy at night. She said it with a confused look on her face.... After prodding her I found out that she thought it meant cameras emitted a loud buzz or chugging sound when focusing at night! Anyway... So I am basically completely satisfied with the W30. What I'm going to buy next is a silicone skin for it, to protect the body a bit. This would help cut down on scratches and depending on the construction could keep fingers away from the door latches. I also had an idea about making it float, but I'll try it before posting it. I contemplated the usefulness of a wp camera. In my case it had three other things going for it 1-taking pictures in the rain, and 2-taking it to the beach, where it won't be damaged by sand or water, and 3- Taking it with me on a night on the town.... a camera impervious to water is also impervious to beer! Seeing how good this is, I can only imagine how much better the A30 is. Might pick one up once the price drops. SR is a godsend for these lil P&S models. What a shame Hoya is obliterating the P&S business. |
