We took a trip to Newport, RI yesterday to get some Christmas gifts. These aren't wonderful as I was a little under the weather (and home today sick) and it was freezing out. For those asking about batteries in the cold, I use the Rayovac hybrids and didn't notice any problems under 20ºF.
The old Coast Guard Station in Castle Hill Cove. Forgot that part of the reason I was posting these was to askwhat I should have been doing to get photos that weren't so dreary lookingbecause of the weather. I set the WB to cloudy, had been trying to keep the shutter time low to keep the cloudsfrom washing out. Any tips welcome. (Some of these may have beenbefore I changed the WB.) |

I think all of these are really fine as they are, but if you want toincrease contrast shoot in RAW and play with the levels adjustment. Can also be done with jpgs in Photoshop Elements (I have PSE3) and of course in CS2/CS3. In PSE I even use the "auto contrast" function, works fairly well in many cases. I guess it can be done in most programs.

I also think the photos are fine as they are. I like the composition of the first one and the gray sky and bare trees let the viewer know that you were glad to have Pentax image stabilization :-).
Thanks for the link on the Viking Tower, that was a bit of history I did not know. Tim |

I like them too, but here is one I brightened the foreground and made the clouds a bit darker.
