Wonderful picture, and I like the way Kjell didn't over-do the USM. I usually use some version of Ben's sharpening method most of the time since it can often bring out details without over-processing the image. Though I've started to use smart sharpen for the first sharpening, then USM for the second one. The only picture of a bald eagle I've managed is one at a wild animal park (sigh).

Nice find and nice shot.

I was lucky enough to stand about 15ft-20ft from one in the wild last year . Just driving down the road when I saw one sitting in a tree next to a bar/restaurant that was closed. I turned around and carefully walked up their back deck and got the shot (and thrill) of a lifetime. He was sitting about 15ft away from the deck and maybe 3-4 feet above my head. He just sat there staring back at me. Wow.

They really are very cool looking birds up close, and a great thrill to see close-up in the wild!
