![]() Opps should have posted this in the lens section. Hi Anyone have experience or know how good/bad this lens might be for an all purpose lens? Also a place to buy at a good price. |

None with the Pentax but I have had a brief go with the Tamron from which the Pentax is cloned &, by the way, costs somewhere in the region of UK£100 more that the Tamron.
I have also previously tested a Tamron 18-200 & found that, within the constraints of a 'super zoom', to be not bad at all. My test with the Tamron 18-250 suggested that is had more vignetting than the 18-200, even at longer focal lengths which I found a tad unusual. Reviews tend to support this: http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Cano...report--review This shot with the Tamron was taken at 250mm (375mm in 35mm terms) @ f9.5 & 1/500S & does show a darkening at the corners which I've assumed to be lens vignetting. ![]() The graphs don't really show that much difference between the 2 lens: ![]() |

I reprocessed the image in Adobe Lightroom using the lens correction facility with the following results:
![]() I've since 'bit the bullet' & purchased the Tamron 18-250mm @ UK£269 (including Hoya UV filter & standard 6 year warranty) as opposed to the Pentax @ UK£360 (no filter included & Pentax 1 year warranty). |
