I have a *istDS2 and very please with it. I do not understand a statement in Steves' K100D Super review:
"thankfully Pentax has now stopped using the widely misunderstood "*ist" model name), including its 2.5-inch LCD monitor, cost-saving pentamirror from the *ist DL, and 11-point AF system from the *ist DS2. " Please help me. |

You took it out of context:
"The K100D Super's SR technology is complemented by several proven features retained from the previous *ist D series (thankfully Pentax has now stopped using the widely misunderstood "*ist" model name), including its 2.5-inch LCD monitor, cost-saving pentamirror from the *ist DL, and 11-point AF system from the *ist DS2." He was just pointing out that the new names are easier to use (K100D versus *ist....) with the part he had in parenthesis while comparing the monitors on K100D and older models. |

Pedant alert :yawn:The review conclusion starts : "Pentax first used the "K" designation in the mid-1970's on its innovative K1000, which offered a bayonet lens mount and full aperture metering to enthusiast photographers." The KM, KX and K2 models all predated the K1000 by a year or so :sleep::sleep:
Good positive review; well done Pentax. Pentax DSLR models seem good value this side of pond too. |
