With the Southern hemisphere winter just around the corner I am considering getting a flash unit for my K10D.
Can probably afford either the Pentax AF 360 FGZ or Sigma EF 500 DG Super or something around that price range. Recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks: Ian Mc |

Hi Ian,
I am no flash guru by any measure but I bought the AF 360 GZ and within minutes was able to use it in wireless mode handheld! It seems strong enough for what I use it for and interfaces well with the camera. The only other equivalent flash I may consider is the Metz 48 AF-1. I've read good things about it but have no experience with it. If it would have been available when I got the 360 I may have tried it. Dennis |

Thanks Dennis
For some reason I'm attracted to the Metz flash unit but would probably have to buy from overseas. May well settle for the Pentax AF 360 FGZ. Appreciate your time and information. Cheers: Ian Mc |

I've got a DS and bought a Sigma EF530 Super DG flash a month or 2 back. Fantastic!
Much cheaper than the equivalent Pentax. cheers bb2 |

To start with, I have to admit that I know far less about using a flashgun than I should at this point. I have the Sigma 500 DG Super. I bought it for the K100d and it is still working with the K20d. With each new camera body I have, with trepidation, mounted it to see if it would work and, thus far, it has. I have not yet tried wireless mode with any of my Pentax cameras.
You can save money by buying a third party flash, which is what I did. I would feel more confident that my flash would work with future bodies if I had purchased a Pentax flash. Tim |

Thanks Beachboy 2 and Tim. Much appreciated.
Looks like the 2 Sigmas are both reasonably priced and dependable. Cheers: Ian Mc |
