Reminds me of photos and film My Great aunt and Uncle would show of their years of service in the Belgian Congo back in the 20's, 30's and 40's, as misionaries. Later they were hired by the United nations to do inspections of different Leprosy colonies world wide. My father worked in India founing an orphanage there and preaching....Very different types of living there and here in the US...But like my Dad always said People are People no matter where you go. Till his death he enjoyed his stay in India more than here as he felt there he was making a difference in someone's life! Sorry but that is the thoughts these photos bring to me. Thank you for them!

So true, so true.I'vedonea lot of travelling and have been working in different countries on different continents. I've met and made friends with mayors and streetkids, senatorsand refugees, policemen and gang members. We've all got more to bind us together than to keep us apart.

Very nice shots Kjell, I like all three. You did an excellent job exposing those interior shots. One of my favorite things about this forum is seeing slices of life from half a world away.

We are lucky that at least you are well equiped with lens of shorter focal length . And these took place before your little encounter with some unnamed ticks.

We happened to come to Luqoqweni when an imbizo was held. An imbizo is a village meeting, this one was with a policeman from towninvited to discuss law enforcement in the village. This is a shot of the women, sitting on one side with the men at the other.

And here we have a more full picture of the meeting. The chief and the more prominent men at the left, together with the village's representative in the city council (the woman standing up). At the right you see my colleague Gillian standing (the white woman).
