Hi all,
I am this and half of the next week in California. Today i got the chance to take some pics on the beach. Don't know exactly where it was, somewhere between Ventura and Santa Barbara (tried to figure it with googlemaps, but no chance.). All pics done with K100D and the Kitlens. I wished to have the Tamron 70-300 already for the surf pics. Bye alex No 1: |

Hi Albreca,
It looks like your on the Old Rincon Highway, or the Pacific Coast Highway (one in the same), as its the frontage road paralleling Highway 101 which is just off to your right in picture #1. It looks like your just south of Dulah, a small community right on the beach, and probably just north of Emma Wood State Park. The jut of land there in #1 should be Seacliff, if I remember right. The whole area is known as the Rincon (alla the old Beach Boy's and Jan & Dean surfing songs). http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...;z=15&om=0 The island in the background is San Miguel, Santa Rosa and Santa Cruz Island (the Channel Islands), depending on your aspect (viewing angle), they tend to blend into one. That was my drive to work every day, as I worked in Santa Barbara (actually Goleta) and lived in Ventura (could not afford a house in SB at the time), and that was in the late 70's. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to just ditch going to work and hit the beach for the day, week, month, year - heck I should have retired early and become a beach bum. Also, your doing great with the kit lens!!! |

Welcome to the forum! I like your surfing shots, the backlighting gave the water a jewel like look.

I really like No. 4 Alex. The land in the background makes it!
