I've posted these before, but I'm still proud of them. They definitely fit this category - they were taken with the Vivitar 105mm macro lens. The aperture was fairly small (one was f8, one at f11) but aperture isn't the only thing that affects dof - focal length and distance to the subject makes a difference. In both of these pictures, I was only a couple of inches away from the subject, combined with the 100mm focal length, means that the DOF was very small.
This picture was taken with the K100: ![]() A week or two later I took this one with the K10 (tiny rain drops on a spider web): ![]() |

That is breathtakingly beautiful. You are right. As a full blown macro shots F8 or even F11 are still considered as wide. The norm is more like F16. You have made a good point Daniel |

I have posted this one before. It was taken with the K10 and a Tamron 180mm f/2.5 at f/4. Tim |

Yeah, I agree with Roy, this is an outstanding picture.
This one below was taken with my M100mm f4 Macro, with extension tubes and handheld. I don't remember the aperture, but it must have been pretty wide. Not much DOF here! Kjell |

Yes Tim, that shot is one of my favourites posted here too. Really a beautiful photo!
This one's the Pentax-A 50mm f1.7, even at f4.5 it still has very nice DOF. ![]() Tom |
