Fantastic shot of a beautiful little bird. I haven't seen one of these, either.
I'd like to be posting a closeup of a pilieated tonight, but alas, I didn't get the shot. I was sitting in the shade next to my woods. No birds had shown at the feeder, so I had set my camera down for a few minutes to read when not one, but a pair of pileateds landed on the side of a tree not ten feet from me. As I began to slowly bring up the camera, the labrador caught a glimpse of those "Big Birds," and leaped after it, growling and barking.....Pileateds last seen disappearing back deep into the woods. I heard them later in the woods and I'm hoping I'll get another shot at them soon if they've take up residence around here. Paul |
